This compilation shows the journey by train from London Euston to several railway lines in Wales, beginning on the Festinoc line. Stations include Portmadoc, the steam "Festiniog Harbour Station" and Tan-Y-Bwlch Station. Shots include several steam double ended Fairlie's Patent engines with shots of the "Earl of Merioneth" engine boiler being filled with water. The next sequence taken from onboard a single ended engine with carriages, passes along the line at Minffordd station, capturing views of the local landscape as the train moves at speed.

The next part of the film shows scenes of the Fairbourne Minature Steam Railway, with passengers aboard several carriages, passing through a busy station.

Shots of the Vale of Rheidol Railway follows, with moving shots of the engine and landscape from the footplate. The engine passes through Aberffrwd, towards Devil's Bridge station at the end of the line.

The next sequence shows highlights from a journey aboard "The Earl" on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway, passing through Llanfair Caereinion and Castle Caereinion stations.

The final section of the film shows the Talyllyn Minature-Gauge Railway at Talyllyn Wharf Station aboard the "Douglas" steam locomotive engine, passing Abergynolwyn on to Harlech, closing with views of a group of Cub Scouts waiting to board a train and Harlech Castle on the hillside.
