The film opens with shots of two women walking in the garden before the title "North Foreland House, 1928" appears. A woman and dog walk down the drive of the house, out over the green and down the "39 Steps" to the beach, where she takes off her shoes and stockings. There she meets a friend and they walk down the beach together. Two women and a man wear swimming costumes and caps. They sit on the beach and splash in the sea, smiling to camera. elsewhere on the beach a group of adults and children picnic with tables and chairs in front of the beach huts.

Back at Foreland House a couple dance in the garden. Others pose and laugh in front of the camera. In front of the summer house, a woman sits in a deck chair with the dog beside her. A group wear fancy dress and funny hats, and children play apple bobbing in the garden. A dog with an advertisement for a Minstrel performance in its mouth walks around the garden with its owner [?].
