The film shows the Dickins family from Surrey and other holiday makers on a trip to Austria, with images of the group as well as the surrounding countryside and architecture.

The film begins with a shot of a handwritten sign that reads 'Austria 1954'. John Dickins and other passengers are then seen looking out of open train windows on a station platform, before the film cuts to panning shots of the landscape showing houses with mountains in the background. There are shots of the holiday group walking by a river path and resting on the grass. There are images taken from within the cab of a cable car ride as well as shots of rowing, playing music, dancing, exploring buildings, swimming, and table tennis. After a brief shot of a cemetery, we see further views of mountains from across a lake, as well as the group eating and swimming.

The film then cuts to colour very briefly, with a couple of street scenes showing architecture, motor vehicles and pedestrians.
