The film begins with shots of the washrooms at Coombe Haven Caravan Park in St Leonards, Hastings where the family were on holiday during 1960. There is a brief shot of Gladys Dickins sat in a parked car on Hastings beach, with the fisherman's huts and West Hill in the background. The film then cuts to several shots that same year of the back garden at Ernest and Gladys' home on Willoughby Avenue, Beddington. These shots merge with images of the garden at Alderton Road in Woodside, Croydon. John Dickins is seen amongst furniture in the back garden and Gladys is seen relaxing and reading on a lilo. The film then cuts to show brief scenes from a second camping trip.
