This 1942 film shows work on a farm to harvest the silage crop and load it into the silos. The film then focuses on workers and machines at a textile mill in Lancashire.

The film starts with a panorama of the landscape showing the industrial buildings and chimneys of a town (Blackburn?) nestled in the valley. A group of women and an elderly man stand in a country road by their car.

"Clough Foot Cottage, Home of Sally Walton the Lancashire Witch"

The film shows a small stone dwelling by a road and a stream in Clough Foot, Calderdale, Lancashire.

"Silage 1942"

The film shows a field of crops being harvested by a man on a small horse-drawn cart. The silage crop is collected and heaped onto another horse drawn cart and taken back to the farm buildings. The crop is seen being shredded and sent into the silo as several farm labourers work the machinery. Young boys stand inside the silo moving the contents with pitch forks as it is filled.

"Small Lancashire cotton mill 1942"

A man operates the industrial loom amongst large rolls of cotton fabric. A man in a hat walks through the factory, observing the work. The film takes a close look at one of the machines working. Several women wearing aprons work amongst the looms as they operate, powered by a steam engine.
